NA body annoyed over slow investigation into recovery of heroin from two PIA flights

The National Assembly Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat expressed its displeasure over the slow process of investigation as Custom and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) authorities are unable to fix responsibility on the recovery of 28 and three kilograms heroin from two different PIA flights after a considerable period of time.

The meeting was held at Parliament House on Tuesday with MNA Rana Muhammad Hayat Khan in chair. The committee directed that the Federal Board of Revenue chairman may constitute a joint investigation committee headed by custom department and comprising representatives of PIA, ANF and Airport Security Force to expedite the investigation process so that culprits could be penalised accordingly.

The committee directed that a joint investigation committee may finalise its report within 60 days of the meeting and report back to the committee.

The meeting was attended by MNA Sardar Muhammad Irfan Dogar, MNA Sardar Mansib Ali Dogar, MNA Parveen Masood Bhatti, MNA Shehnaz Saleem, MNA Nighat Parveen Mir, MNA Malik Ibrar Ahmed, MNA Nafeesa Inayatullah Khan Khattak, MNA Moulvi Agha Muhammad, MNA Syed Javaid Ali Shah, MNA Dr Mehreen Razzaq Bhutto, MNA Syed Ali Raza Abidi and senior officers of the ministries and departments concerned.
