Police foiled a bid to smuggle arms and seized a weapons laden vehicle on Tuesday. The culprits however managed to escape.
DSP CIA said that the police signaled to stop a suspected vehicle near Aimanabadi Darwaza in Gujranwala but the driver instead of stopping sped away.
The police chased the vehicle after the culprits onboard fled leaving the vehicle by roadside in nearby locality.
During search of vehicle 18 rifles, nine pistols and more than 6000 rounds of different bores were recovered.
DSP CIA said that the arms were being smuggled from Peshawar and they were to be used in terror activities and other crimes but police foiled the bid by timely action.
