Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sought bids for the purchase of 400 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) for the conduct of Pilot Project in bye-election for National Assembly or Provincial Assembly Constituencies.
ECP has asked the contractors to submit samples of machines to the Commission until July 20, said a notification issued here.
A parliamentary panel on electoral reforms had directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to procure electronic voting machines (EVMs) by September 2016 for experimental use with a view for formal deployment.
“If the experiment is successful, next general elections will be held through electronic voting, Zahid Hamid, chairman of the Sub-Committee had observed.
