Taking on the mantle

The RBI Governor’s decision not to seek the second term has sent mixed feelings across India and the industry in general. Never has India witnessed/seen such warm feelings from the helm of the RBI Governor.

True, Mr. Rajan as RBI Governor has already made waves – that have now started giving great results in the various areas.

And personally and professionally, I have felt the “power of his presence” while seeing his signature in Indian currency notes [on my every salary date].

His statement that he will be returning to academia on the retirement should be respected. While discussing the many ifs and buts regarding the tenure of Mr. Rajan, one should also look into the statement of the Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who has stated that the government is respecting Mr. Rajan’s decision.

Certainly, India still can expect many positive results from Mr. Rajan till the end of his tenure. No doubt Mr. Rajan’s readiness to work in the field of academia will bring in many breakthroughs in the future.
