Strict monitoring drive of gun shops to begin in Rawalpindi

The Rawalpindi police department is set to begin a strict drive for monitoring gun shops in the area on regular basis in order to prevent the trade of illegal guns and ammunition.

According to police sources, on the directives of City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Abbasi, the checking of gun shops will be conducted in the jurisdictions of city, cantonment, Wah Cantt, Taxila and Gujjar Khan police stations. The specially constituted police teams will check the stocks and will also make a hand written record on regular basis.

City Police Station SHO Mirza Yousaf said that the police teams will conduct the checking of 17 gun shops in their jurisdiction on daily basis to ensure that no weapon is sold to any unauthorised person which may be used in terrorist activities.
