Director General Wildlife and Parks Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan has said that over 200000 people visited Lahore zoo and Safari Park during Eid holidays and the department received an income of Rs. 7100000 from both recreational places. He said that a large number of visitors are also expected on Sunday (today) as it’s a holiday and the weather is pleasant these days.
He expressed these views while talking to the representatives of print and electronic media during his visit to Lahore Zoo on Saturday. Lahore Zoo Director Shafqat Ali and Deputy Director Zahid Ali were also present on this occasion. Khalid Ayaz Khan said that special security arrangements were made for the visitors and all security personnel did a tremendous job in discharging their duties.
Replying to a question about breakup of wildlife parks of the province, Khalid told that a large number of people visited the wildlife parks and zoos of the province. He said that up to yesterday, over 700000 tourists visited and enjoyed 18 zoos and wildlife parks of the province including Lahore Zoo and Safari Zoo. He said that more steps are being taken to enhance the entertainment facilities in wildlife parks and in this regard, a comprehensive strategy has been evolved. He also thanked the visitors for extending cooperation in security matters.
