Edhi a beacon of hope for the poor: naval chief

Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah expressed deep sense of grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned social worker and legendary humanitarian Abdul SattarEdhi.

He termed it an irreparable loss for the humanity. While eulogising his services, the naval chief said that services and philanthropic work of late Abdul SattarEdhi would be remembered forever by the entire nation. He was a beacon of hope for the poor and destitute of the society who earned worldwide recognition for his humanitarian work.

Earlier during the day, the naval chief cancelled his planned commitments and left for Karachi where he attended the funeral of Abdul Sattar Edhi. He prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul, and strength and patience to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss.

Edhi’s body was brought from Meetha Dar to National Stadium under the Pakistan Navy escort. After funeral, his body was carried for burial at Edhi Village, Sohrab Goth from Stadium, also under Pakistan Navy escort. A large number of Pakistan Navy senior officers and sailors also attended the funeral.
