National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman Major General Asghar Nawaz personally monitored the relief and rehabilitation work in flash flood hit areas of Chitral.
The chairman with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority Director General and civil administration visited Ursoon village Chitral to personally oversee ground situation and supervise ongoing relief operation.
During the visit, he analyzed actual ground situation after the flash floods which washed away a mosque and some civilian population in Chitral.
Nawaz also met with the affected people, offered condolences and distributed food among the people.
He met with the officers of local administration and provincial agencies. The chairman assessed the needs of the local people and affirmed that all logistics support is being provided by the PDMA for urgent relief and early rehabilitation of the affectees.
He directed his team to send 30 tons of wheat for the Chitral flood affected people who have lost their wheat stocks during floods.
The chairman offered condolences to the bereaved families and also distributed food hampers among them.
He urged the need to create awareness among the people to sensitise the dangers during the monsoon season.
