Governor, diplomats offer Eid prayers at Bagh-e-Jinnah

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that the improved law and order situation has restored in the city due to sacrifices of personnel of law enforcement agencies (LEAs) who have worked tirelessly for ensuring the same.

The governor said this while talking to media after attending Eid prayer at Bagh-e-Jinnah. Sindh Chief Secretary Muhammad Siddique Memon, Commissioner Karachi Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed, Diplomats from Islamic Countries, notables and a large number of general public also performed Eid prayers at Bagh-e-Jinnah.

The governor said that there were foolproof security arrangements at markets and shopping centres which enabled shoppers to go there even at nights feeling safe and secure. “We all are very thankful to LEAs for their endeavours in this regard,” he added. The governor while condemning the attacks in Saudi Arabia said it was a conspiracy against Muslim Ummah. Every Pakistani like all other Muslims was deeply hurt due to these cowardly attacks, he said. Dr Ebad said that Pakistan had been the frontline state against terrorism for a long time and international community recognised their sacrifices in war against terror. “Zarb-e-Azb has been very successful in eliminating terrorists and they have been made to run by Pak Armed forces,” he added.

He said the National Action Plan (NAP) was being implemented in letter and spirit in the country and Karachi operation was also conducted according to the guidelines of NAP, he added.

On a question of rumours of change and what would happen after Eid ul Fitr, the governor instantly replied that Eid ul Azha would come after Eid ul Fitr and there was no truth in rumours of changes after Eid. Replying to a question about unfortunate incidents of Amjad Sabri and Owias Shah,he said that investigations were progressing in right direction in both the cases and they would soon hear good news in both the matters.

Later, he exchanged Eid greetings with senior officers and general public at Governor House. Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Bilal Akbar called on Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan. He informed him about the on-going operation and its progress against terrorists. It was reiterated on the occasion that the operation would continue till the elimination of last terrorist from the province. Sindh Inspector General Police AD Khwaja also met the governor and exchanged Eid greetings. He briefed the governor about steps of Sindh police for maintaining law and order in the province.

A delegation of Bohri community also called on the governor and exchanged Eid greeting with him. They thanked him for ensuring adequate security arrangements at shopping centres and markets which enabled shoppers to go there with peace of mind.

The persons who met and exchanged Eid greetings with the governor included Nawab of Junagadh Nawab Jahangeer Khanji, Special Secretary Home Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Aziz Mamon of Rotary Club, Secretary Information Aijaz Memon, Mian Zahid Hussain, Professor Omer Farooq, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, Fasih Uddin Khan, Jameel Ahmed Khan, Siddique Rathor, Ghulam Muhammad Khan and others.
