Many celebrities across the world especially from the Indo-Pak region have raised voices against the brutal killing of qawwal Amjad Sabri, however, AR Rahman has a different approach to the matter.

“We should actually stop talking about all this,” said A.R Rahman in an interview with Times of India.

He believes that the more one talks about it, the more it aggravates people. “It makes people angry and anger is a branch of foolishness,” he explained.

Rahman added that outward expression doesn’t lend any change to a person and thus, doesn’t help in such situations.

“You cannot change what is happening in the world outside. You have to keep looking within and working on self-refinement and strive to make people happy. You have to keep doing what you’re doing, change yourself, and the world will change,” said Rahman.

As unfortunate events keep coming up on news channels, the songwriter feels music can help transcend the unpleasantness.

For him, music is the cure for everything. “You see so many things these days — on television, on the internet, and all around us. Good things, bad things… more bad things, in fact. But if you just close your eyes and shut everything out and listen to music, it transports you, it takes you out of the chaos and makes you think even of things that are unthinkable.”
