Sub-committee of National Assembly for Religious Affairs has recommended constructing a temple and a crematorium in the federal capital, reported Monday.
Convener Ramesh Lal chaired a session of the committee in the NA in the absence of Evacuee Trust Property Board chairman Saddique-ul-Farooq.
The committee reviewed development efforts done in the past three years in the context of the construction of worship places for non-Muslim Pakistanis in Sindh.
A member of the committee, Tariq Christopher demanded the right to dual vote for non-Muslim citizens of the country. He further urged the authorities concerned to increase the number of seats of non-Muslim members of provincial and National assemblies.
The participants resented Farooq’s absence in the meeting with some stating that it was unacceptable.
Recommendation of construction of worship places in Islamabad was made after participants expressed concerns over the lack of such sacred places in the federal capital.
