The Lahore High Court (LHC) Monday (today) passed a judgment, pertaining to the case dissolving the agreement between the Royal Palm Golf and County Club and the Railway Ministry, that Royal Palm Golf and County Club would temporally run under the former administration.
According to the reports, a three-member committee has been formed including a member of Railway ministry, a member of royal palm board of governance and an official from Railway Estate Development and Marketing Company (REDAMCO) to manage the club until the issue is resolved.
Justice Sham Mehmood Mirza heard the plea filed by Barrister Ali Zafar.
Petitioner Saeed Ali Zafar said that, “In 2000 an agreement was signed between Railway Ministry and Royal Palm management.”
The agreement was said to last for 49 years, he added.
Later, the Railway Ministry sent back the cheque given and sealed the the club in an un lawful move, Saeed said.
“Without legal judicial proceeding the agreement cannot be abbolished,” Saeed Ali added.
Arguing for the railways, its counsel stated that the golf club’s administration did not make the due payments despite several legal notices prompting the department to seal it.
The court has ordered the administration to issue salaries of club’s employees ahead of Eidul Fitr.
The hearing was adjourned until September 1.
The case has also been moved to the Supreme Court.
