Such local sports activities play an important role in the promotion of domestic sports activities in the country. Such sports events are the manifestation of a development of healthy trends in society which help promote sentiments of social harmony and peaceful co existence.

Addressing at the prize distribution ceremony, Senator Pervaiz Rashid said that the elected representative from Rawalpindi constituency NA 56 during the last general election, has given Rs. 300 million to a religious seminary which is associated with terrorism but he did not bother to give even Rs,300,000 to people of his constituency for promoting sports activities.

The minister said Hanif Abbasi has done a marvellous job and fulfilled his responsibility by giving funds to sports.

He congratulated Hanif Abbasi and his team for organising such healthy sports activity in the garrison city.

Pervaiz Rashid said in the past, playgrounds were deserted in the country due to terrorist activities and Pakistani players had to go abroad for playing cricket and other games. However, he said now our playgrounds were once again attracting players which were a good omen for the whole country.

He said players always earned laurels for the country in the comity of the nations. But unfortunately in Pakistan the youth were deprived of healthy sports activities and were given suicidal jackets for terrorism, he added.

The minister said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had promised before the general elections that his party would restore all recreational facilities in the country if the people reposed confidence in the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) in the elections.

He said that the PM has fulfilled his promise, made with the people during the general election campaign.
