Shehzad Roy is combating rote learning through a hilarious video that emphasises the need to question and think critically instead of blindly following what teachers, politicians and other people in positions of authority preach.
In the video, each character that is questioned goes into a fit of fury in a series of animations.
The mother turns into ‘The Bride’ from the movie Kill Bill when the son insists on having things his way.
The teacher turns into a ‘Desi Hulk’ after the kid proves him wrong during a lesson in class.
The father turns into a Punjabi movie antagonist as a response to his son announcing his dream of becoming a musician.
Shehzad Roy highlights how most elders impose restrictions on children from an early age and leave a lasting impact on their life.
The singer took to social media to share the important message.
“Over 90 per cent of questions in the Matric examination are based on rote memorisation! Now is the time to build critical thinking in our students #reformmatricboard,” wrote Shehzad.
