Security arrangements for shoppers made: Governor

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan said that adequate security arrangements have been made for shoppers in the city’s markets so as to ensure Eidul Fitr’s shopping with utmost peace of mind and without any fear.

He said this after visiting different markets and shopping malls to inspect the security arrangements and enquire the shoppers about their problems.

Provincial Home Minister Anwar Siyal, Karachi Commissioner Ejaz Ahmed Khan and Karachi Additional IG Mushtaq Mehar also accompanied the Sindh governor.

He went to the markets of Tariq Road, Hyderi, Nazimabad, Saddar and Clifton and asked the shoppers and traders about security and other arrangements. The shoppers said that it was a pleasant surprise to see the governor between them and appreciated his concern for the security of the masses.

At Hyderi, the representatives of Bohri community complained that there is no electricity in their area for last three days. The Sindh governor immediately contacted the K-Electric authorities and due to his intervention, the electricity to the locality was restored within half an hour. The people of the area thanked the governor for resolving their problem without any delay.

The governor, while talking to media men, said that the purpose of his visit was to see the security arrangements himself at various places and ask the consumers about any problems being faced by them.

He said that due to the strenuous and untiring efforts of the personnel of law enforcement agencies, the law and order situation has improved considerably and the rush of people in the markets is recognition of their achievements in this regard.

About the incidents of Qawwal Amjad Sabri and Awais Ali Shah, he said that investigations in both the cases are progressing in the right direction and we will hear good news in these cases very soon.

Regarding stagnant water in the streets after recent rains, the governor said that the local bodies have made arrangements to clear the rain water but it is still seen on a few roads which is being investigated. After the release of funds for cleaning of big drains, the same would be started soon to ensure uninterrupted flow of rain water through them, he said and added that encroachments and sewage are two major problems of Karachi which should be tackled with a comprehensive plan.

About street and other crimes in Ramzan, he said that the home minister and his team are doing an admirable job to rid the society of criminals.

The governor said that after an improvement in law and order situation, development is the priority of the Sindh government. The work on north bound track of Lyari Expressway which has been restarted after a gap of eight years is progressing well while the most vital K-4 project has also been started, he added.
