Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said his government inherited institutions that were in total disarray as the previous governments used to interfere in these institutions and were thus politicised. There was a total mismanagement and decisions used to be made at whims and not at merit, however, the present government has started reforms for re-origination of public sector institutions making them in consonance with the public aspirations, he added.

He was presenting at a meeting of local government for distribution of resources making the local government system more powerful in the province. Provincial Minister Muhammad Atif Khan, MPA Sardar Idress, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan and administrative secretaries attended the meeting. The CM also received delegations, local party workers and MPAs and he spoke about the government achievements.

Khattak said that resources for village and neighbourhood councils, districts, tehsils and towns have been released by the government under the provincial finance commission formula.

“Our efforts led to the achievements of our rights. We hope the federal government would not go back on its promise and commitments made with the KP government,” he said, and added, “When our government got to power we observed that the previous government had left everything wrong and all the different institutions were politicised. We started focusing on corrective measures to put these institutions on a right track. At the outset, our efforts were resisted, but we have succeeded because of our will and commitment to reforms.”
