Residents of Swan Garden facing acute shortage of water

The residents of Swan Garden are facing acute shortage of water from last one month and are left with no other option, but to hire private water tankers which are charging hefty amount.

The residents of Swan Garden told the news agency on Friday that the society has its own abundant water supply as it is situated on the bank of the Swan River.

In spite of abundant water resources in the area, the management of the society was involved in fleecing the residents by selling its water rather than to provide it free as the residents are regularly paying their water bills to the society.

Imran Ali, a resident of the area, said the situation has become so bad that the society has its own motor pumps that can run 24 hours, but water is not available in the society.

He said the residents are facing severe problems due to unavailability of water from last one month, while the authorities concerned are mum over the situation.

He said that this situation forced the locals to shift to other places.

Another resident of the area opined that due to poor planning, various houses in the society are getting an insufficient supply of water and authorities concerned should take steps to ensure water supply.

The officials deputed at the water tanker inquiry service in the society also failed to facilitate residents after repeated complaints by the people of the area.

When contacted, an official of Swan Garden society said that due to summer season the demand of water has increased in different sectors. He appealed to the residents of the area to avoid misuse of water.
