Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have devised a comprehensive security plan for Eid-ul-Fitr and special deployment will be made to guard the worship places of the city.
All police officials have been directed to remain on high alert to avert any untoward situation during the Eid days.
According to the security plan, police sources said that more than 3,500 policemen would perform security duties on Eid and would guard religious gatherings at open places, mosques and imambargahs.
Police officials have been assigned security duties in this connection at 700 places out of which 30 are open and 26 are imambargahs.
The bomb disposal squad would also conduct checking of various areas and parking will not be allowed near worship places or congregation.
As per the plan, beat systems have been introduced for security at main shopping centres, markets and additional deployment of policemen will be ensured there in the ongoing last Ashra of Ramzan and at Chand Raat.
The contingents of the mobile reserve police and prisoner van movement would be part of security measures at important shopping centres including Super Jinnah, Super Market, F-10 and Aabpra market, the sources maintained.
Policemen have been assigned duties at bus stands, graveyards and railway stations, while special deployment will also be made at Faisal Mosque.
All SHOs have been directed earlier to conduct security meetings with the managers of bus stands as nine bus stands were identified for security duties.
Following these meetings, special police pickets have been erected in the vicinity of bus stands and police with the help of volunteers would check the passengers and other suspects there.
As per security duties on Eid, the policemen would patrol in the various sectors and contingents of Rangers and police commandos will assist police in these security duties.
Islamabad SSP Sajid Kiani has issued special directions to Islamabad police to remain on a high alert and fully prepared and vigilant to avert any untoward situation in the capital during Eid days.
A special patrolling plan has also been chalked out following which vehicles of police stations, Falcon and Bravo vehicles would patrol in their respective areas while additional vehicles will be also provided to each police station for the success of the plan.
Police teams have been constituted for patrolling in various urban sectors and rural areas. Keeping in view the rush of visitors at public places, security measures will be also taken at Shakarparian, Daman-e-Koh, Yasmin Garden, Manal, Lake View Park, Chattar Park and Centaurus.
The mobile patrols and squads of Islamabad Traffic Police would also remain present at prominent points during Eid congregations and Chand Raat to ensure a smooth flow of traffic.
