Actor and TV host Nadeem Jafri was robbed in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal neighbourhood on Thursday and has demanded security after the incident, police said.

Two young men approached Jafri near his house in the morning and snatched his cell phone from him on gunpoint, SP Gulshan Fahad Ahmed said.

Jafri, who starred in the Pakistani production ‘Wrong No’ remained safe in the incident, the police official said.

Fakhr-e-Alam, former chairman of the Sindh Board of Film Censors, in his tweet said that as the robbers were leaving after the mugging, there was an exchange of fire which Jafri narrowly escaped. The police, however, denied this claim saying, “There was no firing during the incident”.

A first information report was registered in Gulshan police station on Jafri’s complaint. The celebrity demanded security after the incident.

Scores of actors, singers and producers earlier this week demanded of the Sindh government to provide them security because they feel threatened after the recent murder of renowned Qawwal Amjad Sabri.

The artists, mostly associated with the television industry and led by singer Fakhr-e-Alam, submitted an application to the Defence police station SHO, warning that they would hold the provincial government responsible if any member of the fraternity came under attack.

  1. Police has denied he was injured. It is only people like Fakhre Aalam making hill out of a mole because they are asking police protection like Politicians and other VIPs. Does he or anyone think it is feasible for the Govenment to provide security to every artist, cricketer, or anyone and everyone ? There is hardly a family in Karachi who has not gone under this experience.
