Water shortage in Karachi has continued to persist as at Dhabeji and Gharo pumping stations hit by a constant power outage, reported on Wednesday.

According to details, worsening water scarcity has resulted in civil unrest as the water scarcity has reached 20 crore gallons due to load shedding in the metropolis.

Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) spokesman assured that the electricity has been restored in the affected areas while he has also advised the locals to use water carefully.

He said that Karachi is currently meeting just 50 per cent of its total water requirement whereas inadequate water resources have failed to meet the massive demand from a rapidly increasing population.

On the other hand, repairing of 72-inch diameter pipeline that ruptured last night in Dhabeji due to heavy rain is underway.

Earlier, the streets of Karachi were seen inundated with filthy water as 21-inch pipeline burst on Sunday night in Quaidabad area.
