Youm-e-Ali observed in Karachi amid tight security

Like other parts of the Muslim world, Youm-e-Ali, the martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali (RA), was observed amid tight security in the metropolis on Monday.

Special security arrangements were made to avoid any untoward incident. A big mourning procession was taken out from from Nishtar Park via MA Jinnah Road to Hussainia Iranian Imambargah. The police and Rangers ensured the security measurements while the Sindh government has banned pillion riding across Karachi and Hyderabad from June 26 till June 28.

According to the security plan, 4,244 policemen were deployed in south zone of the city along with 3,896 personnel in west zone and 1,519 policemen in east zone to ensure no untoward incident on the occasion. Women officers were also deployed for the security duty.

Sindh IGP AD Khawaja had directed all DIGs and SSPs to ensure effective security arrangements for the processions of Youm-e-Ali across Sindh, including Karachi.

Walk-through gates and CCTV cameras were installed to monitor the main procession in Karachi. The police carried out snap checking along the route of procession and other sensitive areas of the city.
