Wife of slain customs officer files petiton pertaining to Ayyan

Saima Chaudhry ,the wife of the late Customs Sub-Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz, filed a petition with the court today pertaining to supermodel Ayyan’s currency smuggling case.

The petition stated that Chaudhry Ijaz was killed while Ayyan’s money laundering and currency smuggling case was going on. The deceased was a central witness in the currency smuggling case.

The petition filed by Saima also stated that her husband had recorded a statement against Ayyan in the currency smuggling case. During the investigation of the case, she claimed that her husband had been murdered.

Saima also claimed that her husband was in charge of a warehouse where the amount recovered from Ayyan Ali was kept.

While requesting the apex court to continue travel ban on Ayyan Ali, Saima insisted that Ayyan Ali should not be allowed to flee the country until the judicial inquiry into the money laundering case comes to a conclusion.

Ayyan had been caught by airport security from the Islamabad airport in March last year when more than USD 500,000 were found from her luggage, as she was about to board a flight to Dubai. The supermodel was sent to Adiala Jail where after being imprisoned for four months, she was released on bail.

Sub-Inspector Chaudhry Ijaz was shot dead by unknown armed assailants outside his house in Qasimabad. He was rushed to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital where he succumbed to his wounds.
