Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Monday filed a reference against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif seeking his disqualification and declaring his parliament seat as vacant.
Sardar Latif Khosa Advocate filed a reference against Nawaz Sharif in the Election Commission of Pakistan today.
The reference says that the prime minister and the members of his family sent money out of the country by illegal means, and alleged them of money laundering.
The PPP disqualification reference comprised of around 1000 pages said including documents, media reports and statements of the members of Sharif family.
The reference said that Nawaz Sharif does not meet the criteria of qualification for holding a public office set under Article 62 and 63 of the constitution.
The reference also alleged the PM and four others of tax evasion and annexed their tax statements.
PPP leader Barrister Latif Khosa had earlier in a statement said that the PPP has prepared reference against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, PM’s son-in-law Captain Safdar MNA and nephew Hamza Shahbaz Sharif.
The reference has enough evidence for declaring them disqualified, PPP leader said.
Earlier, another major opposition party Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) had also filed a reference against the Prime Minister at Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The election commission told PTI that their reference will be heard after filling of the vacant seats of the ECP members.
The ECP has become practically non-functional after its all four members retired on June 12 this year.
