The police could not produce Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) activist Saeed Bharam in the court due to lack of security on Monday.
The police informed the judicial magistrate (south) court that the police contingents were deployed for the security of Youm-e-Ali processions due to which the accused could not be produced before the court.
The court ordered the police to produce the MQM’s activist before the court on June 28.
The court had granted a five-day physical remand of Bharam to the police for investigation. The accused MQM worker was booked in scores of murder, attempt to murder and other cases. Bharam was arrested from Abu Dhabi with the help of Interpol and is said to be the key leader of the party’s militant wing.
He is allegedly involved in bomb blasts, targeted killings, kidnappings, murders and other serious crimes. He had reportedly escaped out of country after the law enforcement agencies launched a crackdown on terrorists and criminals in Karachi in 2013.
