KMC’s Rs 26,789.616m budget approved for FY 2016-17

Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Laeeq Ahmed while exercising powers of the KMC council approved Rs 26,789.616 million budget of KMC for the fiscal year 2016-17 showing expected revenue estimates at Rs 26,789.616 million and expenditure estimates at Rs 26,686.10 million with a surplus of Rs 103.507 million.

Metropolitan Commissioner Samiuddin Siddiqui, FA Rehan Khan, Budget Director Mehmood Baig and Director Council Ghufran Ahmed and other officers were also present on this occasion.

In the receipts side of the budget, the current receipts were estimated at Rs 14,488.150 million and capital receipt at Rs 1,840.500 million along Rs 6,472.953 million as funds for provincial and district Annual Development Programme (ADP).

Similarly, the expenditure side showed establishment expenditure of Rs 7,428.055 million, contingent Rs 2,365.993 million and repair and maintenance Rs 270.570 million.

The main projects include the construction of commercial plaza at Shahabuddin Market Saddar with Rs 350 million, improvement of roads, footpaths and bridges with Rs 350 million and special development projects with Rs 300 million.

A sum of Rs 250 million each has been allocated for up gradation and construction of boundary wall around graveyards, development works at Orangi Cottage Industrial Area and development and improvement of roads.

The ADP projects include allocation of Rs 499 million for up gradation of fire services for high rise buildings, Rs 223.694 million for construction of flyover at Korangi Crossing, Rs 205.400 million for construction of underpasses at Golimar intersection of Nazimabad.

The widening and improvement of main Hawksbay road will be done with Rs 150 million and the rehabilitation of national highway from Jinnah terminal flyover to Quaidabad flyover will be carried out with an allocation of Rs 125 million in the next budget.
