A girl was shot dead and her mother was injured over a marriage dispute in the jurisdiction of Dijkot police on Monday.
According to police, Ilyas Masih of Chak No 272-RB, wanted to marry his cousin Sawera, but her mother did not agree. The refusal infuriated Ilyas, who opened fire on the girl and her mother. As a result, Sawera died on the spot while her mother Nasim suffered bullet injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.
Two attempt suicide over domestic issues:
Meanwhile, two people including a woman attempted suicide by swallowing poison over domestic issues. The victims were identified as 18-year-old Zahid of Chak No 209-RB and a married woman Iqra Shahzadi of Chak No 228-RB. The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital.
