Federal govt should stop by-passing Sindh govt: Khuhro

Sindh Senior Minister Nisar Ahmad Khuhro said that Pakistan is passing through a difficult time and there are numerous challenges that the country is facing while the elected Sindh provincial government is extending full cooperation to the country’s national institutions.

The biggest of all these challenges is the menace of terrorism and the country also has challenges on the economic forefront, Khuhro said while addressing an Iftar dinner hosted by the Pakistan People’s Party leader and candidate for the post of chairman of the District Municipal Corporation (DMC) east at a local community hall at Pakistan Employees Cooperative Housing Society on Sunday.

Khuhro said that the Sindh government open-heartedly welcomes the federal government regarding its steps under the National Action Plan but it is a deplorable situation that the government ignored the concerns of the Sindh government. The federal government has to respond to the Sindh government for its vibrant steps for the elimination of terrorism, maintenance of law and order and elimination of poverty and developmental projects in Sindh, he added.

Speaking on the occasion, Senator Saeed Ghani said that the PPP’s manifesto is to serve and empower the masses and the elections for the local bodies on completion of its final phase would translate the PPP’s manifesto in real.

He said that the delay in completion of the final phase of mayoral elections is from the Election Commission (EC) and it would be an undemocratic and unhealthy trend to allege the Sindh government for using delaying tactics. The burden of the EC should not be thrown over the PPP or Sindh government, he added.

The host of the Iftar dinner had earlier in his welcoming address said that the PPP is a democratic party in true sense and has always believed in taking all the members on board under all situations. He said that the presence of notables from all walks of life in this Iftar dinner is the real manifest of the reality that the party maintains the norms and values of the democracy.

Rashid Hussain Rabbani, Waqar Mehdi, Habibuddin Junaidi, MNA Dr Shahida Rehmani, Israr Abbasi and Erum Butt from PTI, Taufeeque Moon and Hanif Jangra from Jamaat-e-Islami and newly elected chairmen and vice chairmen of DMCs and members were present on the occasion.
