Almost 85 officers are all set to stage sit-in outside Inspector General (IG) Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera’s office over the reversion of out-of-turn promotions, reported on Monday.
Sukhera made 85 senior police officers including 20 Superintendent of Police (SP) and 65 Deputy Superintendents of Police as Officers on Special Duty (OSD) but the decision was reversed as Supreme Court (SC) declared the promotions as illegal.
According to reports, these officers had captured wanted dacoits, murderers, terrorists, smugglers and other criminals.
According to new notification issued by the IGP, the officers have not only been removed from their positions but have also been replaced by their colleagues.
The affected officers have announced to hold sit-in against the reversion of the decision. They said that the higher administration should appreciate their hard work.
