Acting President Mian Raza Rabbani eulogised services of late Amjad Sabri and said that Amja Sabri’s art and legacy is like a bird that can’t be caged and can’t be shut inside a grave.

The acting president said that late Amjad Sabri, through his God-gifted talent, dedication and love for the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon Him), spread the name of Islam and greatness of Prophet (PBUH) all over the world. The acting president visited residence of late Amjad Sabri on Sunday in Karachi. He condemned the brutal killing of Amjad Sabri and termed it a great loss.

He condoled with the mother and brother of slain Qawwal Amjad Sabri and narrated a tale about a Sheikh (saint) who was sitting in his room when suddenly a bird entered from somewhere who couldn’t find a way out. As the sheikh was watching the bird helpless, he clapped his hands and guided the bird to exit, he added. Similarly, Amjad guided people and showed them the correct path through his Qawwali and earned worldwide recognition.

“Huge presence of masses on his funeral and the fact that the whole Pakistani nation is mourning and shedding tears is a tight slap on the faces of those forces who believe that they could disturb the structure of the state by spreading terrorism,” Mian Raza Rabbani stated while condemning the brutal act.

He, however, said that the spirit of Pakistani nation was high and every Pakistani would defend his religion and his country, adding that both federal and provincial law enforcement agencies would not let the murderers of Amjad Sabri go unpunished. The acting president also offered fateha for the departed soul and expressed his sincere condolences to the bereaved family.

He also visited residence of Abdul Sattar Edhi in Karachi to inquire after his health. He directed the authorities to provide maximum facilities for treatment of Abdul Sattar Edhi. Mian Raza Rabbani lauded the contributions rendered by Edhi for humanity.

It is pertinent to mention here that the acting president also met with Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court Sajjad Ali Shah to express solidarity with him and assured every possible cooperation and support to ensure early release of his son.
