Transporters have increased fares across the Sindh province ahead of Eidul Fitr.
According to details, the transporters started issuance of tickets in black. The fare for Sukkur from Karachi in Karachi Coach Service (KCS) is Rs 800 but the transporters are now booking for Rs 1,000. Despite fleecing of the poor people who use coaches and buses, the transport authorities are silent and no action is being taken against them.
The people going to their home towns from Karachi to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and other parts of country are facing acute hardships due to monopoly of transporters who have also increased fares. Meanwhile, Kumb Khidmat Committee, a social welfare organisation, distributed Eid gifts among the poor at Kumb on Saturday. Renowned social worker, Fida Hussain Wasan, was the chief guest on the occasion. The gifts were distributed among over 400 needy people.
