Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said that every step of the judicial process in Pakistan is corrupt and riddled with hurdles. The police is always a part of that process and in the case of the Model Town incident, the police itself is the murderer; on top of that the Punjab government issued orders for that murder, whereas the prime minister and the chief minister masterminded the whole affair, he said.

Talking to Pakistan Today Editor Arif Nizami on his talk show DNA on Channel 24, Qadri said the massacre which was carried out on June 17, 2014 and led to the barbaric killing of 14 workers and injured around 100 was not committed by PAT, it was committed by the government.

“We never interfered with the judicial process. If the incumbent government has nothing to hide and doesn’t want to shoot itself in the foot then it should publish the commission’s report prepared by Justice Baqar Najafi,” he said.

“The FIR for this case was only ever allowed to get registered after an order from Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif,” he said, and added, “Even after that order, the FIR was changed to suit the ends of the government. And then two additional pages were added to that FIR.”

Qadri said: “Not a single person associated with that barbaric bloodletting is behind bars.”

Answering a question, he said during the previous anniversary of the incident he was in a wheelchair and very much incapacitated. However, he has regained the energy and has the strength now that is required to undertake the task at hand. He said he is now ready to take up the cause with full vigour.

Talking about the Sharif family, he said that other corrupt elements participate in the already existing corruption; however, the Sharif family is the chief architect, engineer and builder of corruption as a system.

“Other institutions of the country have been rendered incapable to resist against this corrupt conglomerate,” he said.

Qadri said New Zealand’s former prime minister David Lange had told him at a dinner in his honour that Pakistan has been destroyed by corruption.

Qadri claimed that the prime minister had told him that New Zealand’s state-owned steel mill has 50 per cent shares belonging to Nawaz Sharif.
