Lawyers in Islamabad and Rawalpindi went on a strike on Friday against the kidnapping of Sindh High Court (SHC) Chief Justice’s son Awais Shah.
The call for the strike was given by Pakistan Bar Council (PBC). The lawyers completely boycotted the court proceedings as a result of which many important cases were adjourned without a hearing.
The litigants coming from far off places went back disappointed. They said that they had come in scorching heat, while having a fast but were going back disappointed, as there was no hearing of their cases.
In Islamabad, a protest was staged in the District Courts.
Lawyers’ organisations adopted the stance that federal and provincial government should review the law and order situation in the country and ensure the protection of life and property of the citizens.
They also demanded that chief justice’s son should be recovered soon.
Hardly a surprise that our lawyers needed any excuse to take a day off and have the general public suffer. Un ki khair hay.
