A fire broke out Friday at Fatimah Memorial Hospital in Lahore, according to a private TV channel.

According to the hospital staff, the fire broke out in the corridor of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the medical facility. The smoke filled the rooms of the hospital causing panic in the hospital staff and the patients of the hospital.

Rescue and relief teams arrived at the scene and managed to evacuate the patients from the hospital. The patients being treated in the hospital were admitted again after the blaze extinguished.

No casualties reported in the incident.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

The civic bodies in most of the Pakistani cities have insufficient firefighting equipment and scarcity of personnel. Moreover, narrow lanes in cities make the blaze incidents more dangerous causing hurdles for the fire tenders to access the fire spot thus resulting in huge losses.
