An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Gilgit on Friday sentenced a Chinese national to nine years in prison for possessing illegal arms.
Judge Raja Shahbaz ruled that the convict would not be allowed to enter Pakistan once he completed his sentence. The convict, identified as Wang Jiancho, confessed to purchasing four pistols and over 200 bullets from Pakistan with the intention to take them to China.
The court also ordered the Punjab Police IG to take action against the arms’ dealer who had sold these arms to the Chinese national.
The Hunza police had arrested the Chinese national from Pakistan-China border on May 24 and maps, a binocular and four pistols and bullets were recovered from him. Later, he was shifted to Gilgit from Khunjarab.
The convict had come to Pakistan on one month visa. He stayed in Islamabad for 14 days and later he reached Sust border before heading to Khunjerab border in a taxi.
