About 72 per cent of surveillance cameras installed do not serve the purpose of their installation in Punjab and Sindh, Pakistan Today reliably learnt on Thursday.

According to the Interior Ministry sources, the CCTV places cameras placed to monitor important places are substandard and can’t work effectively.

The blur or distorted images captured by these cameras make it hard to recognise criminals, the sources revealed.

More than eight sessions have been conducted in two and a half years by the Sindh and Punjab governments but no implementation on the improvisation of conditions of cameras installed in prime locations have been carried out

On the other hand, the Punjab Home Ministry has decided to replace the ineffective CCTV cameras for the better security arrangements in the province.
