Amjad Sabri’s death major loss to world of qawwali, says brother Sarwat

Slain Qawwal Amjad Sabri’s brother Sarwat Sabri said on Thursday that the renowned singer had not received any life threats before he was martyred in a targeted attack in Liaquatabad neighbourhood the other day.

“He was a pious man… he never thought about (threats to his life),” said Sarwat while talking to media representatives.

He demanded Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Raheel Sharif to bring the killers of Sabri to book.

He said Sabri’s death was a major loss to the world of qawwali but “it is an art form the door of which can never be shut”.

An FIR has not been registered so far.

However, Rangers personnel visited the Sabri’s residence on Thursday where they collected evidence and the data of cellphone of Amjad Sabri to examine call records, reports said.
