NAB KP arrests culprit in weapon scam

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Wednesday arrested Habib Said allegedly involved in aiding, assisting, abetting, attempting and acting in conspiracy with the accused Akhtar Muhammad by fabricating, creating and preparing forged evidence to hide assets of convicted Akhtar Muhammad in the infamous weapon scam.

During the course of inquiry, it was revealed that the accused Habib Said in connivance with Akhtar Muhammad and his son through corrupt practices fabricated a number of back-dated stamp papers to show that convict Akhtar Muhammad had sold an expensive flat in Islamabad to Habib Said.

As per the handout, he further in connivance with the other party filed a transfer of property suit in his name and succeeded to obtain the decree in his favour, however, the ownership was still maintained by Akhtar Muhammad.

It merits mentioning here that Akhtar Muhammad was involved in corruption and a large-scale procurement of weapons by the police department. He was tried by accountability courts and convicted for 10 years rigorous impressments and with a fine of Rs 3,45,00,000.

The accused person will be produced tomorrow before the Peshawar Accountability Court for obtaining his physical remand.
