While rejecting the petition for extension in deadline regarding bill boards put on at public places in Karachi, the Supreme Court on Wednesday ordered to remove the same in any case till June 30.
A three member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the review petition against the decision of removing bill boards in Karachi. During the hearing, the court rejected the plea of extension in deadline for removing the bill board and upheld the verdict regarding removing them until June 30th.
The court in its decision clarified that every year hundreds of people die in monsoon due to bill boards. Further, the court categorically said that no measure should be tolerated against the public-interest. According to sources, 5,000 bill-boards were present at the time of court’s verdict which have now crossed 8,000 in Karachi.
