DCO Lahore Capt. (r) Muhammad Usman said City District Government Lahore (CDGL) and its allied civic agencies like WASA, LWMC and towns administration pumped out rain water from all low lying areas of the provincial capital after hectic efforts on Wednesday.
He expressed these views while monitoring rain water disposal situation from low lying areas of the provincial capital.
He said the rain started at 8:25 AM and continued for three hours without any interval and it was recorded 81.0 mm at airport, 44mm at Jail Road, 64mm at Farkhabad, 68mm at Paniwala Talab, 45mm at Upper Mall, 65mm at Chowk Nakudha Misri Shah, 72mm at Wasa Head Office, 55mm at Lakshmi Chowk, 68mm at Allam Iqbal Town, 50mm at Samanabad, 45mm at Mughal Pura, 45mm TajPura, 61mm at Nishter Town, 59mm Ghulshan-e-Ravi and 76mm at Johar Town.
All generators attached with dewatering motors were operative and in spite of load shedding and feeder tripping in some areas, the system remained functional, he added.
Usman visited different areas and supervised the dewatering process in low lying areas of the city including Mall road and Lakshmi Chowk. He along with Vice Chairman WASA Ch. Shahbaz visited Ek Moria and Do Moria Pul, Gulberg, Nabah road, Lower Mall, Johar Town, Airport and other areas to check rain water situation and dewatering gadgets. A spokesman of the CDGL stated that rain water was pumped out from Ramzan bazaars to make them functional as soon as the rain stopped.
The DCO asked the hospitals administration to provide best medical treatment to the people who were shifted in different hospitals after getting injured in wall or roof collapse incidents.
