Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Spokesperson Naeem ul Haq clarified on his official twitter account that the party has disassociated itself from Mufti Qavi after his selfies with media sensation Qandeel Baloch went viral on social media.

Furthermore, he announced the new head of the Ulema wing.
“The head of an ulema wing of PTI is Mufti Saeed not Mufti Qawi. PTI dissociates itself completely from Mufti Qavi’s behaviour,” he said.

Meanwhile, the federal government was planning to refer Mufti Qavi’s issue to the Islamic Ideology Council.
“We are gathering facts about the issue. The matter will be taken up in the IIC’s meeting,” Federal Religious Minister Sardar Yosuuf said.

Separately, former Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani admitted that he had appointed Mufti Qavi in Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, but added that he wasn’t responsible for the mufti’s conduct.
Senator Hamdullah, who caused an uproar over his verbal assault on Marvi Sirmed, said that it was unfortunate that Mufi Qavi was part the moon sighting committee.
