Democracy without Morality

Democracy without certain moral standards is nothing. Objective moral values are the basic spirit of democracy that has been forcing the world to adopt the system. In this form of government, ethical values ensure equal status of all and sundry without any discrimination and exploitation.

In Pakistan, democracy has been spoiled and mixed up with our negative cultural myths. And the derogatory remarks, passed by a minister against a woman parliamentarian, are an ample example of these myths. The remarks by a minister, even in the house and during the session, not only depict our sexual, vulgar, wield and discriminatory national behavior but also indicate to chew over that whether we are capable to adopt the most sophisticated system or not.

What can we expect from such ministers and parliamentarians as role models for others who are actually devoid of culture, religion, ethics, aesthetics and humanistic values?

Last but not least, if a rascal or vendor looks at female as a source of amusement and entertainment taunting what will be the difference in a minister, representative of a constituency, and in the vendor at all?
