The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved Rs 3.32 per unit cut in electricity tariff.

NEPRA heard the plea filed by Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) to decrease power prices by Rs 3.32 in accordance with the electricity generation cost in May.

The officials said that the production cost of electricity in May was Rs 3.45 per unit due to price cut in furnace oil but Rs 6.77 per unit was charged from the consumers.

Keeping in view the power generation cost, the authorities have been asked to reduce the price for the relief of the masses.

However, K-Electric and consumers who use up to 300 units on monthly basis will be deprived of this offer.
