An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday issued arrest warrants for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chief Tahir-ul-Qadri in a case pertaining to attack on the then Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asmatullah Junejo during sit-ins.
The ATC have issued warrants for the two political figures for the second time in the SSP attack case. The court had also issued their arrest warrants on May 31.
The SSP was thrashed by the protesters near the Constitution Avenue on September 1, 2014.
The Secretariat police had registered the case against several PTI and PAT workers for their alleged involvement in vandalism and attacking SSP Junejo.
The case should be against those involved, and not their leaders unless there is ample evidence that it was explicitly at the behest and instructions of their leaders. Where are the arrest warrents for the arrest of Nawaz Sharif and his brother named in FIR which could not be lodged with out the intervention of the army chief?
