The Punjab government has formed committees to probe a scam under which laptops have been distributed among favourites and undeserving persons by several educational institutes and officials.

The Chief Minister Laptop Scheme was introduced to distribute laptops among toppers from matric to MPhil level; however, several educational institutes and officials have distributed them among the favourites, while pushing the deserving students to the wall.

Sources said Post Graduate College 6th Road, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Arid Agricultural University and several other institutes have allegedly manipulated the distribution process and distributed most laptops among their favourite students.

Prof Muhammad Saleem, Prof Shafique Dar and lecturer Muhammad Saleem have been made members of the committee for Rawalpindi Division, the sources said. The committee will submit their report after a thorough inquiry.
