Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday overruled objections of the registrar office on a petition filed by Pakistan Sunni Tehreek’s leader Sarwat Ejaz Qadri challenging the ban on his entry in the province.

The matter was fixed as an objection case before Justice Mehmood Maqbool Bajwa about the objection raised by the registrar office indicating that the petitioner did not attach a readable copy of the home department’s notification regarding ban on his entry.

The court after hearing arguments, ordered to fix the matter before a bench, while removing the objection.

The petitioner said that the Punjab home department’s decision to impose a ban on his entry in Punjab is in violation of his fundamental rights. He said that he had forwarded an appeal to the Punjab home secretary against the ban, but no decision was made in this regard even after months.

The petitioner prayed to the court to suspend the notification issued by the home department for banning his entry to the province of Punjab.

The Punjab government imposed the ban on the entry of Sarwat Ejaz Qadri in the province in February this year.
