Gang rape accused summoned on plea for bail cancellation

Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday summoned a gang-rape accused Adnan Sanaullah next week, on an appeal filed for his bail cancellation.

Justice Shahid Hameed Dar issued notices on an appeal filed by the Punjab Prosecute Department against grant of bail to the accused.

During the proceedings, Punjab Additional Prosecutor General Abdul Samad submitted that the accused, Adnan Sanaullah, along with others, abducted a girl and subjected her to gang-rape.

He stated that the victim, in her first statement before a judicial magistrate, had stated that Adnan Sanaullah was the main culprit.

However, the accused forced the victim to change her statement and a sessions court granted bail to him in the light of an affidavit submitted by the victim in favour of the accused, he added.

He asked the court to declare the affidavit, submitted by the victim under pressure, as null and void and cancel the bail granted to the accused.

The court, after hearing initial arguments, summoned the accused, Adnan Sanaullah to appear before the court on the next date of hearing.

The Race Course police had registered a case against Adnan Sanaullah and others, who had allegedly raped a girl in a Mall Road guest house.
