Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that service to humanity is a form of worship and appreciated Consultant Physician of District Headquarters Hospital Sheikhupura, Dr. Adnan Qaisar for setting up a noble example with regard to treatment of patients. He congratulated Dr. Adnan Qaisar on behalf of Punjab government for his dedication and selfless service to the ailing humanity.
The chief minister announced a cash award of Rs 500000 for Dr. Adnan Qaisar Malik and also gave him a commendatory certificate.
The chief minister had paid a surprise visit to DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura during which every patient appreciated Dr. Adnan Qaisar. He said that doctors like Dr. Adnan Qaisar are rendering selfless and exemplary services to ailing humanity and would be fully encouraged.
He was presiding over a high level meeting through video link which reviewed matters regarding improvement of medical facilities in hospitals in the light of his visit to DHQ Hospital Sheikhupura.
The chief minister issued necessary instructions to authorities and said that there is a need for collective efforts for ensuring proper treatment of patients in hospitals besides timely procurement of medicines and their provision to patients.
He said that the patients coming to government hospitals are also human beings, adding that all air-conditioners in the hospitals should be in working condition. Shehbaz Sharif said that it is injustice that while officers have air-conditioned rooms, the patients have to face extreme heat, adding that that this situation is intolerable. He said that billions of rupees have been provided for improvement of healthcare facilities and wastage of these funds will not be tolerated.
He directed DCOs to visit district headquarter hospitals daily and said that commissioners should pay visit to hospitals once a week. He said that commissioners and DCOs should review hospital issues such as availability of treatment facilities and medicines besides checking working of medical equipment and air-conditioners and take immediate steps for resolving the problems. The chief minister also directed the formation of a high level committee for the purpose.
He ordered inquiry into the issue of non-availability of a medicine in District Headquarters Hospital Sheikhupura. He said that the system of shifting of patients suffering from serious diseases from ordinary ward to special ward should be strictly implemented.
