Punjab to shift 4,321 schools on solar energy

The Punjab government on Saturday decided to shift at least 4,321 schools on solar energy.

As per details, the provincial government has finalised a plan to convert the schools with no electricity on solar energy. Officials told that work on project worth Rs1413 million will soon be initiated.

According to the authorities, eight firms have qualified for the project.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif had announced to shift as many as 5000 schools on solar energy. He stated that it’s the need of the hour to use solar energy for the elimination of power crisis.

He said that a special project with the cost of Rs 32billion for drip irrigation is going to be launched in Punjab, adding that Punjab government is planning to generate electricity by biomass.
