Federal Minister for Finance Senator Ishaq Dar, who is looking after the affairs of the government in the absence of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif who is still recovering from his open-heart surgery, has cancelled his visit to Beijing, China scheduled for the next week.
According to a spokesperson for the Finance Ministry, Ishaq Dar was scheduled to attend the first annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Beijing on June 25 to 26. The minister was also scheduled to speak at a seminar, besides holding certain other meetings during his visit.
In a letter addressed to the AIIB president, the finance minister expressed regrets over his inability to attend the annual meeting. Secretary, Economic Affairs Division Tariq Bajwa would now represent Pakistan at the event.
