Pakistan Hindu Council patron-in-chief and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has demanded of the provincial government and other concerned authorities to impose a ban on the sale of Hindu-insulting shoes.
Talking to media persons after visiting residence of renowned Hindu pediatrician Dr Chetan Das Hotwani to condole death of his teenage son murdered two months ago, Dr Ramesh Vankwani while referring to the Article 20 (a) (b) and Article 36 of the Constitution of Pakistan said it is clearly mentioned in the constitution that the state shall provide the security to the minorities but still it is unclear that why fire of prejudice and biasness is being flamed to target innocent minorities, specially Hindus in Sindh.
“Since last three years on the occasion of Muslim Eid festival, some shopkeepers in Tando Adam are offering shoes on which Hindu religious holy name “OM” is displayed, and the purpose is just to insult the sentiments of local Hindus,” Dr Ramesh regretted, and demanded immediate ban. Such incidents result into an atmosphere of fear, insecurity and distrustfulness, he added. He demanded the authorities to take strict action against the culprits, so that this should not happen again in the future.
